Who Are We?

Our origins go back to the early 1970s when Afrifoto was established. But it was in 1987 that this photo library combined with Photo Access to become the a library of contemporary Southern African colour photography.

In the same year, Photo Access took on the local representation for one of the world’s largest international libraries, the Photo Source, which later became The Telegraph Colour Library and later Visual Colour Library ( VCG ).

It was during the 90’s that Photo Access launched itself into a new period of growth, taking on various international libraries including FPG (USA), Bavaria (Germany) and Red Image (Australia), We invested in these new international libraries because of the excellence of their material.

Similarly, Photo Access became the agent for many of Africa’s top wildlife and scenic photographers including the Getaway magazine library.

With the far-reaching changes in the stock photo industry, Photo Access ventured into the royalty-free image market with the formation, in 1999, of Digital Source.

Digital Source grew to represent the leading publishers of excellent quality royalty-free images.

The new millennium has brought even more changes to the stock industry, but Photo Access and Digital Source are abreast with these changes and in constant contact with new international developments, through our attendance at international conferences such as CEPIC.  As a result new distributors are being signed up annually.

Today, DigitalSource, combined with PhotoAccess, is in a position to provide unparalleled service to buyers of stock photography.
